We have a tradition of cutting down our family Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving. That day is always a little rough for me because I usually don't make it to bed until 6:00 a.m. on Friday morning after being up all night at the "sales." This year though, we decided to cut our tree down early to avoid getting stuck in the snow...hence the following picture from 2010:
We also decided to try a new area to cut the trees from. Things couldn't have been more perfect. Snow was softly falling, deer scurried past us in the brush, Christmas music was playing in the car and there was plenty of snow for fun but without the worries of getting stuck. Ah, yes. I believe we did Clark Griswald proud.
We set out on our annual tree cutting adventure with Lynn and Tonya and before we had even reached our "spot" we turned the corner and saw two moose.
We found a beautiful area and set off with saws in hand. Yes, we remembered the saws.

We had a great day and only a got a little frostbite :) But, "it's all part of the experience." Now it's time to make out my Black Friday shopping list...Christmas here we come!

ReplyDeleteI guess when you cut that early, they probably stay fresh that long. Where do you cut them? I've always wanted to cut our own. By the way, you have the most beautiful family. And you got Ryan to be serious. :) love the Christmas card.
