We tried something new this year. See, for the past three years we've held a morning Easter Egg Hunt at our home. We let the kids run free in the back field and then a "special guest" hops in for an appearance and the whole thing lasts about 10 minutes. This year though, I wanted to take the word "hunt" to a whole new level.
It was time to pull out the big guns. No more kids getting their baskets filled in 5 minutes. They were going to have to work for their winnings and the kids at this party hunted and I mean literally because it was pretty dang dark. Welcome to the LeMone Evening Egg Hunt. As the kids lined up for go time, we passed out glow necklaces and tried to calm the crowd that was about to break through the gate. Ryan acted as a bouncer and did a great job at keeping the hoodlums at bay until it was time.
Head lamps were a must.
After the hunt, The Easter Bunny (which was Jackson fearlessly following in his father's foot steps and dressing up in the bunny costume) made an appearance. Although, not everyone thought he was cute and fuzzy.
We roasted S'Mores and got warm around the fire. It felt more like a Halloween Hunt with the chilly weather, but no one seemed to mind. Especially the kids who went home loaded up on sugar after a basket full of candy filled eggs and chocolate S'Mores.
It was finally my turn to snuggle with Hops.
I'm already planning next year...maybe we'll do a midnight hunt?
